SINGAPORE — From Tuesday (Oct 27), collection of TraceTogether tokens at community centres (CCs) will be restricted to residents within the constituency only, the Smart Nation and Digital Government Office (SNDGO) said on Monday.

Members of the public can check the TokenGoWhere website to find out where their designated collection point is.

"All constituencies will be served in due course. So we urge the public to wait for the collection exercise to start in your respective constituency," SNDGO said.

"TraceTogether-only SafeEntry will only be enforced after everyone who needs a token has had a chance to collect one."

SNDGO's statement comes as long queues have been seen at several collection points such as Rivervale Community Centre and Sengkang Community Club over the past week, with waiting times reported to be as long as 90 minutes.

This prompted Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, the Minister-in-charge of the Smart Nation Initiative, to assure residents on Sunday that there will be more than enough TraceTogether tokens for everyone.

Dr Balakrishnan, who is also Minister for Foreign Affairs, said: “In order to prevent future queues from developing, from tomorrow onwards we are advising everyone to collect your own token from your own community club… So don't go elsewhere.”

He added that there are “several million” more tokens in production, and that the goal is to produce 2.7 million tokens.

These tokens can be collected at 38 CCs around Singapore and will be made available at all 108 CCs islandwide by the end of November.

SNDGO on Monday reminded residents that they may use either the TraceTogether mobile application or token because both serve the same function of recording close contact data.

Those who are already using the app do not need to collect the token.

SNDGO said that it will release more details on the opening schedules of collection centres in due course.
