China scraps tariffs on 16 US imports ahead of trade talks - 92 News HD Plus

BEIJING – China has released a list of 16 US imports that will be exempted from tariffs in the ongoing trade war between the world’s two largest economies.But with more than 5,000 products on it, the list of goods that are still subject to extra taxes is much longer.On Tuesday, US President Donald Trump praised the decision, saying the “gesture” could help upcoming trade talks.

“They made a couple of moves last night that were pretty good,” Mr Trump said. “I think they did the right thing.” Over the past year, the world’s two largest economies have imposed tariffs on billions of dollars worth of one another’s goods. Mr Trump’s tariffs policy aims to encourage consumers to buy American by making imported goods more expensive.
