has demanded a debate on the recently passed State Bank of Pakistan Bill while hitting out at the government for entrusting country’s economy in the hands of foreign powers, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing a presser on Monday in Islamabad, the former prime minister said that the opposition wanted a thorough debate on recently approved SBP bill. He lamented that the government had handed over country’s economy to the foreign powers believing that people would be encumbered with more economic miseries.
If all matters pertaining to this bill were not brought before the masses, this bill would be reversed,said adding that there is no clause in the State Bank which let it go unaccountable if the bank fails. The PML-N leader deplored that now the government would not borrow money from the central bank, rather it would take loans from other banks.
He said that the State Bank governor would become the second most powerful man in Pakistan and the bank would go under the control of just one party. Government or parliament would no longer hold any authority over it, he added.
