ISLAMABAD: Ministry of Religious Affairs has said that it has earned interest of more than Rs. 1 billion on the amount deposited by the Hajj Pilgrims with the government in the Banks.

The ministry in its written reply in the National Assembly said that the amount received on the amount was spent on the medicines and other stuff for the Hajj pilgrims. Last year 3,74,857 Hajj applications were received and the interest of Rs 201 million was generated on the amount of Rs. 106.41bn.
