Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo missed out on a podium finish in the vault final at the Tokyo Olympics on Monday evening at the Ariake Gymnastics Centre.The 21-year-old Yulo finished fourth in the competition with a total score of 14.716 points.Yulo, a sevel-medal winner in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, scored 14.566 in his first jump where everything looked flawless but his landing as his right foot stepped out of the mat.
The 2019 floor exercise world champion did better executing in his second jump with just a step backwards after his landing for a score of 14.866, which was even higher than the second jump of the other seven gymnasts in the tiff.Shin Jeahwan of South Korea seized the gold medal with a score of 14.783 points. Denis Abliazin of the Russian Olympic Committee also scored 14.783 points, but had to settle for the silver as Shin's second jump accumulated higher points than his.Shin tallied 14.
