MANILA — Filipino Miss Universe titlists Catriona Gray and Pia Wurtzbach were among the personalities who spoke up Friday after the country's largest broadcast network ABS-CBN was denied a fresh 25-year franchise by Congress.
On Twitter, Gray said: "For the disheartened. For the hurting. I'm so sorry. For those who delight in the suffering of others, I pray your hardened hearts be softened.""We continue on. But we will never forget," Gray wrote, with a Philippine flag emoji and hearts in the colors of the ABS-CBN logo. Wurtzbach, meanwhile, shared a photo of the ABS-CBN headquarters, with the caption: "Home #ForeverKapamilya". ABS-CBN had been trying to renew its franchise since 2014, but faced several roadblocks, especially under the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte, who had repeatedly promised to close it down.
