This includes aquaponics, an alternative form of farming that raises crops through the help of aquaculture. The boxing champion has been experimenting with the technique at his Survival Camp in Cavite for nearly 2 years now.Ancajas' boxing coach, Joven Jimenez, said the lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic has allowed them to work more on cultivating their crops.
"Sa YouTube kami natuto," said Jimenez. "Kapag walang training, doon kami sa farming nagpupunta.""Noong una, wala kasi kaming alam sa farming kaya madami ring palpak. Pero ngayon nagamit namin nang husto."In a video forwarded by Jimenez to ABS-CBN News, Ancajas could be seen working on a makeshift water tank that contains fish which help fertilize plants.
Ancajas said he feels proud that their little experiment is becoming useful in a time of crisis."Hindi namin akalain na makakatulong sa amin lalo na ngayong naka-lockdown. Doon na kami kumukuha ng pang-ulam," said Ancajas. Read more: ABS-CBN News Channel »
