Lopez, who recently died due to multiple organ failure, was President Rodrigo Duterte's first Environment secretary.Under her watch, Lopez ordered the closure of 23 mines and the suspension of operations of 5 other firms. But Lopez had to step down as Environment chief after failing to get the approval of the Commission on Appointments.
