Police issued the warning after a 26-year-old man was arrested for soliciting money supposedly for a coronavirus disease 2019 -related seminar. Hector Montemayor, a resident of Barangay Poblacion, Toledo City, was caught by the police soliciting money from residents of Barangay Tangke, Talisay City around noon Thursday.
Police Maj. Gerard Ace Pelare, chief of the Talisay City Police Station, said the suspect distributed solicitation letters bearing the forged signatures of Talisay Mayor Gerard Anthony Gullas and other city officials. Pelare said a team of police was dispatched after a concerned citizen tipped them off that a man was roaming around the barangay asking for solicitations.Police found out that the suspect duped some residents by introducing himself as Jun Mark Edolerio and Angelo Canapi.Aside from solicitation letters, police also seized from the suspect a fake identification card supposedly issued by the Professional Regulation Commission identifying him as a nurse.
