The U.S. military turns over intensive care unit beds and COVID-19 vaccine cold storage units to the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

The United States has donated medical equipment needed to fight COVID-19 to the Armed Forces of the Philippines.Tuesday, the U.S. Embassy in the Philippines said intensive care unit beds and COVID-19 vaccine cold storage units were turned over by the U.S. military to the AFP last Oct. 25. The equipment is worth ₱2.075 million or around $40,914.

“The AFP is grateful to the United States government for the donations, which will surely enhance our capacity to afford our military personnel and their dependents the best healthcare services that we can provide,” AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Jose Faustino Jr. said. “We stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the Philippines and the AFP in this fight against COVID-19,” said David Gamble, acting deputy chief of mission of the U.S. Embassy in the Philippines.

The latest donation is part of a larger assistance from the U.S. that provides medical equipment and supplies to help fight COVID-19 in high-risk areas across the Philippines. To date, the U.S. has given ₱1.9 billion, or $37.47 million, to support the local pandemic response in the Philippines.
