TV icon Leila Benitez passes away due to COVID-19

Television and radio icon Leila Benitez has passed away due to COVID-19. She was 89 years old.

Eddie Ilarde, Benitez’ former co-host in “Student Canteen” confirmed the news on DzBB. “Student Canteen” was a popular radio and TV lunch time show in the early 1960s.Benitez died on April 9 in New York. According to a report by CNN, Benitez died “peacefully” at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Manhattan.
