Starting December 1, those who intend to renew or apply for a PUV franchise will have to plant a tree for each unit, the LTFRB says in its recent memorandum

Starting December 1, jeepney operators who wish to renew or apply for a new franchise will have to plant trees first before getting one, according to the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board.

The memorandum, issued on November 20, also covers transport cooperatives and operators who wish to get an extension of their existing franchise. After three months, the policy will eventually cover all applicants with less than 10 PUVs. The LTFRB aims to plant some 50,000 trees in the first three months of the implementation of the order.

dapat kay 50 man lang

good initiative, dagdag na din mga mag papareg ng vehicles nila. hopefully may maayos na program flow to make sure the trees really grow.

Does our government seriously believe applicant will plant a tree? Where will they plant. Since my childhood we were told to plant trees before we can graduate high school. And flooding, smag, pollution happens.. It's just another pa sakit and source of corruption.

If the seedling dies, will the franchise be revoked? There have been previous tree planting programs but the seedling is not cared for.

It for the benefit of the country. I'm a Nigerian but I follow up with the activities of the Philippines. The recent typhoon has caused a lot of damage to the country and to avoid reoccurence in the next future reforestation should take place. Everyone shud support the great idea

This should have been implemented earlier. Oh, I forgot they are reactive, not proactive.
