The government made a full award of its re-issued 25-year Treasury bonds, raising P35 billion from the securities, which have a remaining term of 11 years and 11 months and fetched an average rate of 7.189 percent.

The Treasury official also said that the government may prefer longer tenors in the borrowing program in the future if the market pricing is good.

The country’s headline inflation reached 8 percent in November, adding to the likelihood that the BSP’s seven-person policy making body, the Monetary Board , will raise rates during its upcoming meeting this month.
