Kabilang si Presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo sa mga nanawagan na magpatupad ng “total lockdown” sa Metro Manila para mahinto ang pagkalat ng COVID19.

MANILA - The Philippine capital region may be placed under a “total lockdown” to arrest the spread of the new coronavirus disease , Malacañang said Monday after problems with the “community quarantine” protocol in Metro Manila cropped up.

“This is a matter of national survival. We have to be resigned to that fact. This is a matter of life and death. The only way to stop this is for us to help ourselves,” Panelo said during a Palace press briefing. Macau, on the other hand, suspended casino operations, imposed strict travel restrictions, and conducted regular disinfection of public areas.

Hundreds in Metro Manila faced community quarantine woes on Monday—ranging from cramped public utility vehicles to checkpoint problems—on the first day of the work week as the government locked in on measures to control the spread of COVID-19. The city of Cotabato, and President Duterte’s hometown Davao City were placed under quarantine to prevent the spread of the disease in the southern Philippines.
