To boost attendance, students shouldn’t pay to watch SEAGames2019, says solon

Deputy Speaker Mikee Romero on Wednesday called on the Department of Education and Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee to allow students to watch the 2019 Southeast Asian Games for free.

“We have state-of-art athletics and swimming centers but it will look ugly if there are no student-cheerers,” said Romero. A long-time sports backer, Romero said crowd support should be optimized for the Games, to be held from November 30 to December 11 at different venues. “We did it 14 years ago, so I see no reason why we can’t duplicate our golden achievements during the SEA Games,” said Romero, a founding director of the Philippine National Federation of Polo Players, the sport's national governing body.

“If you are competing and you see your kababayans cheering their hearts out, I’m sure you will do everything possible to win.”
