Malacañang has stepped up the targeted testing of its personnel and disinfection of offices to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease.

According to Presidential spokesman Harry Roque, these coronavirus preventive measures have been escalated to help ensure the safety and health of President Duterte and all the employees at the Palace.

“Nagkakaroon po ng regular disinfection ngayon at talagang ini-implement na po iyong targeted testing ,” Roque said during a televised press briefing Monday, April 12, when asked about the measures taken to ensure the resumption of the President’s televised address Monday. The intensified COVID-19 testing has shown that many Palace personnel have become infected with the coronavirus, Roque added. “At doon nga po lumabas kung gaano kami kadami na nag-positive sa maliit na opisina ,” he said.

Roque’s press briefing is usually held at the Palace briefing room inside the New Executive Building, located in the Malacañang compound. However, journalists have been prohibited from entering the Palace briefing room since lockdown was first imposed last year.
