Stars mourn former president Noynoy Aquino’s death

Aquino, popularly called PNoy during his term, was the son of democracy icons, the late senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. and late president Cory Aquino.

TV host Korina Sanchez-Roxas remembered Aquino as a good friend. Sanchez-Roxas is the wife of Mar Roxas, who was Aquino's running-mate in the 2010 Presidential elections. Aquino would later endorse Roxas' 2016 bid for the presidency. “Sad day. Gone too soon. Many presidents have come and gone. But PNOY I knew. Thank you for your friendship. Most of all, gratitude for service to our country. Godspeed. Bon voyage. Be happy in eternity with your parents, your fellow Filipino heroes," she said. Alcasid endorsed Aquino in 2010 and helped campaign for the former president's slate during the 2013 mid-term elections. Host Bianca Gonzales lauded the late president for his love for the Philippines. “Such a sad day. Rest in peace, former President Noynoy Aquino. Thank you for your service and love for our country. My sincerest condolences to the loved ones he leaves behind," she said.“A friend I greatly admired has passed on. It is shattering. I give you my fervent, respectful salute for all you have done.
