House of Representatives members have underscored the need for tax-delinquent Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) to change their ways or else get shut down.

During the House committee on games and amusements’ inquiry into POGOs Tuesday, congressmen found out from Bureau of Internal Revenue Assistant Commissioner James Roldan that only 10 out of the 49 POGOs operating in the country are paying their taxes.

“Kasi kung 10 lang yung nagbabayad at 49 yung operational, dapat yung 39 na ‘yan, as we speak now, dapat isara na ‘yan for gross violation. Pero wala pang naipasara hanggang ngayon ,” Zarate said. Late last month, President Rodrigo Duterte issued an ultimatum to non-paying POGOs to settle their tax obligations within three days or face consequences from the government.
