Senators want potable water supply system for localities still without access to water

Senators are pushing for the construction of a potable water supply system for municipalities and barangays (villages) in the country that have no access to drinking water.

“Bakit po ganoon? Hindi ba dapat tutukan na natin iyan at madaliin kasi kawawa naman ang mga kababayan natin (How did that happen? Shouldn’t we be focusing on them and immediately address this bceause our countrymen are suffering),” Tolentino asked.He said that thru the Salintubig Program, the government has targeted that 100 percent of the municipalities be provided access to safe water by 2030.

In its position paper submitted to the committee, the DPWH said there should be a “careful planning” to ensure sustainability.After the hearing, the local government panel will finalize the bill to be submitted for plenary approval.
