Following Taal Volcano’s eruption, Senator Francis Tolentino has filed a bill granting LGUs the power to occupy or use private or commercial buildings as evacuation centers. | CMRamosINQ

“The current framework does not cover a comprehensive action plan for LGUs with regard to evacuation and post-recovery operations, which should be at the heart of the country’s disaster response policy,” Tolentino said in a statement on Tuesday.

“Payment, from the local government unit or the national government in case of incapacity of the former, for the use of such private institutions shall be made after such use,” the bill noted. “Being the first responder, our LGUs must be fully equipped not just with proper training, but also a comprehensive plan that they will use in case of emergency cases like the sudden eruption of Taal Volcano which caught everyone by surprise,” Tolentino said.

CMRamosINQ Obviously not well thought of...

CMRamosINQ How stupid is that, that pose a security risk for every store inside the mall. And what happens after the calamity is over but evacuees/govt are not yet ready to transfer them? People would shop with evacuees around them then?

CMRamosINQ Robinsons mall, Ayala malls, SM malls, please ready your building forthe evacuees!

CMRamosINQ That cant be. Every LGU must have its own evacuation center. Period.

CMRamosINQ How about yung mga munisipyo ser? De-aircon pa sils

CMRamosINQ Not a good idea.

CMRamosINQ Why use private properties? School buildings I think are enough to take care of evacuees
