The SC en banc, in a resolution dated December 3, 2019 but released to the media Friday, ordered the creation of 30 regional trial judges-at-large and 20 municipal trial judges-at-large posts all over the country, in partial implementation of the Judges-at-Large Act of 2019.A subsequent announcement from the JBC said groups of 10 of these regional trial judges-at-large will be assigned to Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
For municipal trial judges-at-large, 10 will be stationed in Luzon and 5 each for Visayas and Mindanao. Aside from the judges-at-large positions, the JBC announced vacancies for over 150 regional and municipal/metropolitan trial courts all over the country.Former LEB Chair Emerson Aquende’s and a regular member’s terms ended in January last year while 2 other regular members’ terms will lapse in January this year.
