tv The Philippines is seeking to forge a bilateral labor agreement with the Russian agreement after the latter said it is in need of hundreds of household service workers, musicians and professionals.

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said both sides have yet to sign a labor agreement since Russia wanted a government-to-government deal. "Medyo mahirap kasi kasama sa deployment ang household service workers," he told radio DZMM, adding the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration might not be able to handle the volume."

He said a similar government-to-government labor deal with Israel was feasible since the government only needed 1,000 hotel workers. He also praised Russians for being good employers. "Mababait ang mga Russo. Sa lahat ng mga na-meet ko na OFW, wala nagrereklamo na minamaltrato, pinagsasamantalahan, kulang sahod. In other words, they are satisfied," he said.

He added President Duterte also asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to legitimize the status of thousands of overseas Filipino workers in Russia who are working illegally as nannies and household workers.
