THE tropical cyclone named “Rolly” has intensified into a super typhoon and made landfall over Bato, Catanduanes, according to the state weather bureau.
In an advisory issued at 5 a.m., Pagasa said “catastrophic violent winds and intense to torrential rainfall” will be experienced in the next 12 hours over Catanduanes, Albay and eastern portion of Camarines Sur. The super typhoon made landfall near Bato, Catanduanes at 4:50 a.m. Sunday with maximum sustained winds of 225 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 280 km/h.
