Deputy Speaker and Cagayan de Oro City Rep. Rufus Rodriguez on Friday, July 2 said newly- appointed Southern Luzon Command chief Maj. Gen.

Batolome Vicente Bacarro is not yet off the hook in the hazing death of Philippine Military Academy cadet Darwin Dormitorio.

“In view of this pendency, General Bacarro should not be promoted nor appointed as commander of the military’s Southern Luzon Command yet pending resolution of his cases by the DOJ secretary,” the former law dean explained. “I am appealing to the President to strongly uphold the Anti-Hazing Law to stop once and for all hazing, which has caused numerous senseless deaths of the Filipino youth by not rewarding those who criminally and deliberately allowed hazing in their institutions like the PMA,” Rodriguez said.
