The local government of Quezon City has ordered the pre-emptive evacuation of residents in at least 29 barangays that are prone to flooding and landslides.

Residents living in landslide-prone areas of barangays Bagong Silang, Bagumbayan, Batasan Hills, Blue Ridge A, Blue Ridge B, Commonwealth, Culiat, Escopa 4, Fairview, Holy Spirit, Kaligayahan, Libis, Loyola Heights, Matandang Balara, Pansol, Pasong Putik, Pasong Tamo, Payatas, Santa Monica, St. Ignatius, Sta. Lucia, Ugang Norte, UP Campus and White Plains were ordered evacuated Saturday afternoon.

Also evacuated were residents living in low-lying areas of barangays Apolonio Samson, Bagong Silangan, Doña Imelda, Mariblo, Masambong and Roxas. “Maagang kumilos ang lokal na pamahalaan para matiyak ang zero casualty sa buong lungsod ,” the local government said in a Facebook post, adding that they are encouraging residents “to coordinate with authorities for their safety.”

For emergency situations, residents may call the city’s hotline 122 or the city’s disaster risk reduction management office at 8927-5914 or 8928-4396.
