The Quezon City government on Monday (May 25) vowed to provide the necessary support to the people in Barangay Obrero whose house fell off the waterway, killing a 13-year old girl Sunday afternoon.

In a statement, the QC government said it will shoulder the burial and hospital expenses of the victims.

Investigation disclosed that the affected family was among 47 families recommended by the city government for relocation by the National Housing Authority . The NHA is the agency tasked to relocate and resettle families living in or along danger areas in Metro Manila particularly those along waterways like creeks, rivers and esteros.“The QC Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office , Department of Building Official and the Housing and Community Development and Resettlement Department are ordered to look into the incident and to update the inventory of families living along waterways for immediate assistance,’’ the statement read.

The city government “hopes the relocation program of the national government will resume immediately so that no other lives will be lost unnecessarily.’’
