THE public was given the opportunity to pay their final respects to former president Benigno Aquino 3rd at the Church of Gesu inside the Ateneo de Manila University on Friday.
The Church was opened at 10 a.m. and visitors who are required to wear face masks and face shields entered one at a time in compliance with health protocols brought about by the coronavirus pandemic Aquino's remains were placed inside an urn following his cremation on June 24, 2021, the same day he died.
Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana and former senator and cousin Benigno"Bam" Agiuino 4th were among the early visitors.In an interview with Ateneo's Radyo Katipunan, Bam Aquino recalled the late president's slogans that dictated the tenor of his six year-term:"Daang Matuwid ","Walang Wang-Wang ", and"Kayo ang boss ko ."
"That's who he is, 'yong kanyang paninigurado na ang mga lingkod-bayan ay malinis, hindi corrupt, nandiyan ang integrity. Sana sa mga susunod na araw, we remember him this way ," said Bam Aquino.TRY OUR DIGITAL EDITION
