– Authorities are still investigating the motive for the killing of an employee of the Department of Environmental and Natural Resources Thursday, May 28, in Burauen, Leyte.
The victim, identified as Fernando Polenio, 52, an Environment Management Specialist II of DENR-Community Environment and Natural Resources Office in Palo, Leyte was shot dead at around 11:40 p.m. inside the DENR Eco Lodge in Barangay Mahagnao, Burauen, Leyte, about 25 kilometers away from the town proper.
Reports reaching the Regional Police Headquarters disclosed that about 12 a.m., May 29, Joeban Paza, an employee of the local government of Burauen reported the shooting of Polenio to authorities.According to the victim’s co-worker, Jonel Gula, he heard a gunshot and saw the victim fall to the ground bleeding.
