THE investigation on the killing of a barangay councilor on Olango Island in Lapu-Lapu City on the eve of May 9 election might take longer, as some of the closed circuit television cameras obtained by the police from the area were found to be defective.

The Special Investigation Task Group "Quiros" that was created by the police last May 11 was supposed to use the CCTV cameras around Olango Island in their investigation to help identify the man who shot dead Tungasan Barangay Councilor Jose"Sadam" Quiros past 11 p.m. Sunday, May 8, 2022. Major Judith Besas, public information officer of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office, said there was one functional CCTV camera but there was no trace of video recordings on the road where the suspects would possibly pass during their escape.

Besas said they are now pinning their hopes on some witnesses who could identify the perpetrator as the CCTV cameras are not reliable anymore.
