Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo said the President does not interfere with the work of the PACC and will make a decision once he gets the findings of the corruption inquiry.
“That’s the job of the PACC. We will await its final report and recommendation on the matter,” Panelo said, reacting to the PACC probe on two Cabinet members over corruption complaints. “When the investigation is done that’s the time he will decide on its recommendation. He doesn’t interfere with the work of the PACC,” he added.
PACC Commissioner Greco Belgica earlier announced the two Cabinet officials are under investigation over corruption complaints filed early this year. Belgica, however, refused to name the concerned officials amid the pending investigation. “Investigation doesn’t mean they’re already guilty. So it’s unfair to mention them and make them appear na corrupt,” he said in an earlier Palace press briefing.“Malapit na hong matapos ito. Then submit it to the President, and then the Ombudsman. Kung ano ho ang sabihin ng Pangulo, iyon po ang gagawin namin [This will be completed soon. Then we’ll submit it to the President, and then the Ombudsman. We will do whatever the President says],” he said.
