A couple found to be members of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) negotiating panel was arrested in Quezon City on Tuesday for alleged obstruction of justice and illegal possession of firearms and explosives.

NCRPO Dir. MGen. Initial report showed that DSOU personnel went to an apartment believed to be the safehouse of the couple at Dagupan Street in Barangay Mariblo around 5:30 a.m. to issue a warrant of arrest against Rolando Caballero known as “Jet.” Around 10 p.m. also on Tuesday, joint personnel from AFP and PNP implemented a search warrant at the safehouse of the arrested couple after receiving information that firearms, explosives and ammunition were hidden there.

The Birondos are the sixth and seventh peace negotiators in 2016 to be arrested and charged under President Duterte’s administration.
