General Oscar Albayalde’s resignation as Philippine National Police chief Monday may not yet be the end of the controversy surrounding him over the anomalous drug bust carried out by his former men. This is what Senate President Vicente Sotto III will await rather than comment on Albayalde’s decision to step down as the country’s top cop ahead of his retirement on November 8.

Albayalde announced his resignation Monday after he was implicated in the alleged recycling of more than 160 kilograms of illegal drugs involving his former subordinates during an anti-drug operation on November 29, 2013 in Mexico, Pampanga. Senator Richard Gordon had repeatedly maintained that Albayalde will not be spared from possible charges that will be filed regarding the incident.

Gordon douses cold water on Albayalde’s plan to sue ex-PNP officialsSenator Richard Gordon doubts that outgoing Philippine National Police (PNP) chief General Oscar Albayalde will succeed in his bid to file charges against former police officials who implicated him in the anomalous anti-drug operation in Pampanga in 2013. Because he knows is just a demolition job by anti admin, cmon this hearing is joke. They're are not seeking for truth this is political stunt for them to secure their position in the next election. Look at the timing why now, why not back then its seems so obvious. Privilege communication? You maligned the reputation of the man in public which obviously is your bid to smear PRRD. Tapos he can’t sue bec it’s privilege com? Ungas para kay flash Gordon, ok lang kung siya ang manira ng tao. di ka puede mag resbak. sapat na kaya ang ebedesyang na kolekta nila sa mga accused? go na sa courts.
