PLDT 's Pangilinan says 5G rollout 'difficult, expensive'

Towers for 5G need to be closer to one another as its frequency can cover up to 500 meters, compared to 4G or LTE which can cover 3 to 5 kilometers from the cell site, according to the NTC.

Communications towers can cost up to P8 million, the NTC said.

difficult kasi kailangan mong tadtarin ng cell site ang service area mo para maabot ang ideal latency at tumakbo ng maayos ang mga IOTs. ang IOTs ang talagang target ng 5g hindi na ang ordinary cellphone subs. hindi magiging epektibo ito kung cherry picking ng location lang. Nevermind, whats the point of 5G if you will limit the bandwidth to 3-10Mb..lol

Yung coverage muna sana saka consistent internet speed. Totoo naman talaga to, it’s very very expensive, hindi pa applicable sa Philippine settings natin. I guess it will take 4 to 5 years for us to enjoy this.
