BERLIN – Recipient ang Pinay scientist na si Dr. Chosel Lawagon ng University of Mindanao ng prestisyosong “Green Talents – International Forum for High Potentials in Sustainable Development'' ng German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) ngayong taon.

Ang Green Talents International Forum ay isang international competition para sa mga outstanding young scientists na ang focus ay sustainability sa kanilang mga komunidad.

Isa sa kanyang mga proyekto na pinondohan ng Department of Science and Technology ang conversion ng basura sa mga nanoparticle na maaaring ihalo sa “smart concrete” na magpapatatag sa imprastraktura ng earthquake- prone areas ng bansa, tulad ng Mindanao. Nagsagawa rin ng pananaliksik si Dr. Lawagon kasama ang University of Mindanao College of Engineering at College of Arts and Sciences sa epekto ng landfill leachate sa mga kalapit na ilog ng Davao City.
