Pilot dead, 2 others injured in chopper crash in Pampanga

ONE died and two others were injured when a helicopter crashed at the Clark Freeport Zone on Tuesday, the Aviation Security Command said on Wednesday.According to the report, the crash took place at the Building 7162 Nabcor area at 10:45 a.m.The fatality was identified as Pilot Diosdado Lumandan, 60. The injured were identified as Ivan Barcelona Abiong and Rodly Jasper Esogon, both aircraft mechanics.Initial reports said the crash was due to an alleged technical problem.

The report, quoting, Jeffrey Bagares, Technical Recorder, said that at about 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, the victims secured a test flight from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines.Records of the Pacific Spotter Company showed that the victims were doing technical repairs for the Model MD369HS helicopter, manufactured in 1973, when it suddenly crashed midflight.
