The receiving and returning of packages will soon be available at the stations of Light Rail Transit Line 1 as private operator Light Rail Manila Corp. is set to launch the country’s first smart locker system.
In a statement on Tuesday, LRMC said it inked a deal with the Airspeed Group of Companies to activate “PopBox” in the Philippines. With presence in key cities in Indonesia and Malaysia, PopBox is a smart locker system that enables contactless delivery and allows people to receive their packages more comfortably, according to the company.LRMC said Airspeed Group would serve as the official logistics partner offering the PopBox fulfillment option to its clients such as e-commerce platforms and small and medium enterprises.
“The LRMC team is passionate about innovation. Driven by our shared mission to enhance the commuter experience and make it truly world-class, we want to make commuters feel like they are in a station that they might go to in other countries," LRMC president and CEO Juan Alfonso said. "We aim to give our passengers a glimpse into our future, and we’re glad to partner with the Airspeed Group in making part of this vision happen,” he added.
I'm shocked that this article made me realize that we still don't have smart lockers (or dead drops). Bravo to officialLRT1 for finally bringing that experience here.
