The Philippine Bar Association offered legal assistance to “targeted” journalists and media organizations as it viewed with “grave concern the series of suits” filed against media outlets. | cgonzalesINQ

So the PBA is offering journalists assistance by its members — who are among the “most distinguished” lawyers and law firms in the country.“We extend this service in recognition of our brave journalists who have fearlessly performed their constitutional duty for years. We rely on our Press to always search for the truth,” the association said.

The lawyers’ group likewise noted that a free press “kept the light of freedom lit even during the darkest days of martial law.”
