(DR. GUIDO DAVID / TWITTER)The average number of new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases per day in the Philippines is now below 1,000, the independent research group OCTA said on Sunday, Nov. 28.“As predicted, the seven-day average of new cases in the Philippines has decreased to less than 1,000,” OCTA research fellow Dr. Guido David said in a tweet.
“The current seven-day average as of Nov. 21 to 27 is 954. From Nov. 14 to 20, the seven-day average was 1,346,” he added. These translate to a one-week growth rate of -29 percent.David said the country’s reproduction number is at currently 0.34.Moreover, the current incidence rate or average daily attack rate is around one new case per day per 100,000 population, which is considered “low.”
“Meanwhile, the seven-day average in deaths from Nov. 21 to 27 is 186. The high number of deaths relative to the number of new cases is likely due to late reports of deaths,” David said.In Metro Manila, the seven-day average of new cases is 241, which represents 25 percent of the national cases. headtopics.com
In early November, David projected that the country will have less than 1,000 new COVID-19 cases daily by the end of the month and around 500 cases per day before the year ends.Read more: Manila Bulletin News »
