BRP Conrado Yap (PS-39), the Philippine Navy (PN)'s

BRP Conrado Yap , the Philippine Navy ’s “most powerful ship” which it recently acquired from South Korea, is now sailing to Manila, ready to serve the Philippines, the PN announced Tuesday.

“PS-39 is now under the control of its more than a hundred maiden crew led by the commanding officer, Captain Marco Buena, who underwent 13 weeks of necessary operational and warfare trainings in South Korea,” Roxas said.It measures 88.3 meters long with a beam of 10 meters and draft of 2.9 meters while the displacement is at 1,216 tons full load. It is rated for a crew of 118 personnel and can sustain operational presence for 20 days.

“BRP Conrado Yap will provide the Philippine Navy that needed anti-submarine warfare capability and an important platform to train officers and sailors on anti-submarine warfare operations,” Captain Jonathan Zata, PN spokesperson, told the Manila Bulletin last week. BRP Conrado yap will meet BRP Davao del Sur at sea for a group sail and conduct of naval maneuvers while en route to Manila.
