The Armed Forces of the Philippines received ₱183 million worth of weapons and equipment from the Joint United States Military Assistance Group – Philippines., the US Embassy in the Philippines said these were delivered at the Clark Air Base and included nine M3P .50 caliber heavy machine guns and 10 mortar tubes, among others.

The deliveries, which were funded by the Philippine government and a US grant, aim “to enhance the AFP’s counterterrorism and maritime security capabilities,” it added. “The United States will continue to support the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ capacity building efforts through joint training and key military equipment transfers,” JUSMAG-Philippines Chief and Senior Defense Official to the Philippines Col. Stephen Ma said. “Our mutual security collaboration remains a cornerstone of a free and open Indo-Pacific. “

The US Embassy said the Philippines is the largest recipient of their country’s military assistance in the Indo-Pacific, providing more than ₱48.6 billion in security assistance since 2015. The two countries are commemorating the 70th anniversary of the signing of the Mutual Defense Treaty this year.
