World Health Organization Country Representative Dr. Rabindra Abeyasinghe was conferred with the Order of the Golden Heart by the Philippine government, through the Department of Health.

Abeyasinghe will end his tour of duty and is set to leave the country on Saturday, Jan. 22, the DOH said.“For almost three years of being the WHO Representative to the Philippines, Dr. Abeyasinghe has immensely contributed to ushering health initiatives and achieving milestones in the country’s health system,” the DOH said in a statement on Friday, Jan. 21.

With the tireless support of Dr. Abeyasinghe, the Philippine government was commended by the WHO Director-General for swiftly executing redoubling efforts in strengthening routine immunization of children,” said Health Secretary Francisco Duque III. “We thank Dr. Abeyasinghe for his dedication in ensuring Filipinos achieve better health outcomes,” he added.
