The Philippine Embassy in Kuwait has successfully repatriated some 63 undocumented and distressed Filipino overseas workers in a single day this week, the biggest batch since it started the Embassy Assisted Repatriation Program (EARP) early this year.

Undocumented Overseas Filipino Workers who availed themselves of the Embassy’s Assisted Repatriation Program for distressed overseas Filipinos line up at the check-in counter at Kuwait International Airport, prior to their flight back to the Philippines on 20 August 2019.

Lomondot explained that a lot of people thought that the Embassy’s repatriation program ended with the amnesty program granted by the Kuwaiti government last year. The program aims to repatriate overseas Filipinos who were charged with absconding and expired visa cases at the Immigration Department of Kuwait, without having to be detained.

Aside from the all-expense fare from Kuwait to Manila, the EARP beneficiaries were also provided with one-way air tickets from Ninoy Aquino International Airport to their respective provinces. The Medical Response Team of the Embassy’s Assistance to Nationals Unit also assisting four OFWs with various medical conditions, who are also included in the fifth batch of EARP.
