Health workers from the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) said the P1.2-billion 2022 budget cut for the hospital is “unacceptable.”

Health workers from the Philippine General Hospital said the P1.2-billion 2022 budget cut for the hospital is “unacceptable.”

In the proposed 2022 budget, PGH was allotted P5.67 billion, lower than the P6.87 billion for this year. Meanwhile, a zero budget for CO would mean no funds for infrastructure, facilities, and equipment like mechanical ventilators and high flow machines. However, increasing bed capacity and infrastructure is not enough to address the needs of COVID-19, additional health personnel are also required to operate additional areas.

Leachon: Prioritize 3rd shot for health workers over adolescent vaccinationRather than rolling out the COVID-19 vaccination program to children aged 12 to 17, a health reform advocate says the government must give additional protection to healthcare workers instead. We can do both. We've many pfizers already for HCW and kids with comorbidities. Depende nalang sa DOH at FDA kung itutuloy pa booster shot sa HCW. They should approve it now. I know 3 doctors already who died despite being vaccinated. So sad last week it was just 2 doctors.
