The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration observed tropical storm “Pepito” at 40 kilometers north-northwest of Dagupan City in Pangasinan around 4 a.m. on Wednesday.“Pepito” may also gradually intensify into a severe tropical storm category by Thursday afternoon or evening as it crosses over the West Philippine Sea.
Tropical cyclone warnings have been lifted or lowered in some areas but Signal No. 2 remains hoisted over Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Benguet. Tarlac, and the northern portion of Zambales — Iba, Palauig, Masinloc, Candelaria, Santa Cruz, Botolan, Cabangan. Moderate to heavy rains will prevail over Batanes, Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, Pangasinan, La Union, Apayao, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, and Calamian Islands.PAGASA advised the public to stay vigilant for possible flooding or rain-induced landslides during heavy or prolonged rainfall especially in areas that are highly susceptible to these hazards.
Rough to very rough seas will prevail over areas where tropical cyclone and gale warnings are in effect as waves may reach 2.8 to 5.5 meters.
