The Pasay City government lit up its Christmas tree and other holiday decors at the City Hall grounds to kickoff the celebration of the city’s 158th founding anniversary.

Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano and Rep. Antonino Calixto led the ceremonial giant Christmas tree lighting in front of the City Hall building.

Under Republic Act 1140, every Dec. 2 of each year has been declared as a special non-working holiday in the city. The City Hall building is festooned with colored pink decorations, including the Christmas tree, which Rubiano said symbolize hope to end the COVID-19 pandemic. Rubiano urged residents to continue following the basic health protocols due to the threat of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.

She also told residents who wish to go Christmas shopping to visit SM Mall of Asia on Dec. 2 and Newport Mall at Resort World Manila from Dec. 2 to 5 for the Pasay Mall Wide Sale that will offer up to 70 percent discount.
