The country’s education officials are on the right track to enhance the quality of basic education, Malacañang said after the Philippines ranked low in reading, math and science in a global survey.Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said they prefer to take a “constructive view” of the international assessment results and would continue to address the gaps in the education sector.

“Our education officials are on the right track as we address the issues and gaps in the basic education sector. These include a continuing review of the K-to-12 program, improving our students’ learning facilities, and retooling the knowledge and skills of our teachers,” he said.
