Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo made the statement after the Philippine National Police announced that a total of 435 GCTA-freed inmates have already surrendered to the police.

“The fact is there are 400 of them coming in. Could be that the others may [just] have known of the deadline. But just the same, the order of the President remains,” he added. The controversy led to the sacking of former BuCor chief Nicanor Faeldon who took over from former PNP chief and now Senator Ronald dela Rosa who resigned from the said post when he ran for the Senate.Meanwhile, Panelo said he will ask President Duterte if he knew of the supposed bad blood between his men, including Faeldon, Dela Rosa, and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Director General Aaron Aquino.
