Palace pleased with gov’t branches’ support to DOJ corruption probe

Presidential spokesman Harry Roque made the statement after the Congress welcomed President Duterte’s order to the DOJ to launch a probe on the corruption in government until the end of his term.

In a radio interview, Roque said that the Palace is happy with the Congress’ willingness to cooperate with the investigation.According to Roque, everyone, even lawmakers, are covered by the investigation of the DOJ.“Iyan po ay ang batas naman natin na sumasakop sa mga public officials, lahat po iyan ay sakop ,” he added.

He, however, cited the difference when it comes to the Judiciary and the Legislative branches of government. “Mayroon po talagang mga jurisprudence diyan: Sa Supreme Court, tanging Supreme Court lang ang pupuwedeng magdisiplina ng mga huwes ‘no. So in that sense, hindi talaga magagalaw ,” Roque explained.

This week, President Duterte ordered the DOJ to look into the corruption in the entire government as he vowed to devote his attention to eliminating corruption for the rest of his term.
