Malacañang has dispelled speculations that it was giving Sen. Ronald dela Rosa special treatment following plans to terminate a military deal with the United States over their cancellation of his visa.

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo made clear that the government is concerned about the interest of all Filipinos, not just Dela Rosa.

Asked why there was a fuss over Dela Rosa’s cancelled visa when other senators suffered the same fate in the past, Panelo said: “Ang gobyerno noon, hindi sila concerned. Itong gobyernong ito concerned sa lahat ng ating mga kababayan .” Dela Rosa, a former police chief who led the government’s war on illegal drugs, earlier confirmed that his tourist visa has been canceled, saying he has been informed that he could apply for another visa if he wants.
