P77.98B released for Covid response under Bayanihan 2

THE government has released a total of P77.98 billion to various agencies and departments for their coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic response programs under the Republic Act 11494, or the “Bayanihan to Recover as One Act” , according to the Department of Budget and Management .

In a statement on Thursday night, the Budget department said it has released P76.22 billion out of the P140-billion allocation under the law. Another P1.75 billion allotment for Bayanihan 2 response was also released to other agencies, the DBM added.“These allotment releases are charged from the regular funds of the departments/agencies under the FY 2020 General Appropriations Act,” it said.

Signed on September 11, the Bayanihan 2 law involves interventions that include cash-for-work programs; skills training; social assistance programs; funding for the agriculture, tourism, transportation and education sectors; and more lending programs to help businesses survive.
